Through each encaustic painting, Andrew Csafordi brings the viewer into an organic sky landscape imaginative fantasy unlike any other. His luminous, textural paintings call out to be touched.
They all reach out and draw the viewer in.

Rich layers of imagination, pure beeswax and damar resin medium, dry pigments/oils, as well as fibre, wood, metal and other materials, are used in combination to tell a story about “life below the surface” and “the roots that ground the world above”.

Sometimes moody, sometimes whimsical, always thought-provoking, Csafordi’s paintings seem, at times, as if he has reached down with both hands and ripped up the earth to show his viewers what lies beneath the surface ... literally and metaphorically. Each painting takes you to another world … a world to explore and fuel your imagination. 

To get there, you must first mentally allow yourself to pass through the lushly interlaced entanglements attached to a Csafordi painting.
Sometimes it’s an intended struggle to navigate the domain of twisted vines, wire and twine. Inviting, yet just a bit uncomfortable.
You’ll then find your portal to a mysterious, luminous and textural world beyond. Csafordi readies his viewers to become explorers
of dream-like possibilities ... of alternate landscapes or to witness a spirit about to disappear beneath the encaustic translucent mist.
